In this lesson, students explore the concepts of sustainability and
systems thinking while considering the question of where their food
comes from. As students construct their own self-watering container
system to grow edible plants, they continuously address issues related to
systems thinking while participating in food production. They weigh the
importance of biodiversity and, after harvest, reflect on mistakes made and
recommendations for future bucket farmers.
