FEE Fest 2025: A Celebration of Sustainability and Innovation
April 9, 2025Nature Trust FEE Malta continues its mission to promote sustainability through FEE’s global programmes, such as Eco-Schools, LEAF, and YRE, empowering students to drive progress in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
The 3-day FEE Fest 2025, hosted at St. Nicholas College, Dun Manwel Attard, Wardija School, brought together stakeholders, students, and educators from across Malta. It showcased innovative solutions to sustainability challenges through interactive sessions, entrepreneurship initiatives, and engaging talks. This year, 378 students and 103 educators from 21 schools participated in the event.
The 17 exhibitors covered a wide range of environmental and sustainability topics, presenting practical approaches and solutions. Stalls focused on biodiversity protection and resource conservation through reducing, reusing, and recycling. Wellbeing also took centre stage with initiatives such as Pet Therapy, which highlighted the role of animals in promoting mental health, particularly in educational settings. Prayer Spaces Malta provided a unique interactive exhibit, allowing students to reflect on sustainability through personal and spiritual engagement, promoting mindfulness about their role in shaping a sustainable future.
As part of the RESisles project, students voiced their perspectives on climate change. Their contributions, along with those from peers in Cyprus and Crete, will form a collaborative digital collage to be shared across the three countries.
Guided tours at the Wardija School offered participants an on-the-ground look at how the school has successfully adopted a whole-school approach to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), integrating sustainable practices and education into its daily activities.
Participants shared positive feedback on their experience. A primary school student shared, “I’ve learned how small changes can make a big difference for our environment.” A secondary school student noted, “The stalls I visited gave me ideas on how to take action in my school and community.”
Educators also expressed their appreciation, with one saying, “This event has equipped us with fresh ideas to integrate sustainability into our teaching.” Another added, “The collaboration between schools and experts was inspiring – it has opened up new possibilities for engaging my students.”
FEE Fest 2025 was an impactful event, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives to inspire meaningful action toward a sustainable future.
